Evan-Moor Educational Publishers’ Hot Topics is a series of boxed sets designed to support struggling readers. Each fold-out card is themed around an engaging topic and crafted with vibrant, immersive designs to maximize student interaction. Featured here are two examples of the reading selections, though additional designs are available upon request. The Hot Topics product line includes 40 themed reading cards (20 per box).

As the lead designer on this project, I was responsible for designing over two-thirds of the cards. This project remains one of my all-time favorites—creativity had no limits. One of my more unique design choices involved scanning vintage cowboy fabric to use as a textured background for one of the reading selections, showcasing my commitment to thinking outside the box.
