Art Direction

IM® v.360 is the latest iteration of Illustrative Mathematics®’s K–12 Math curriculum, a comprehensive resource designed to transform the learning experience across all grade levels. As the Art Director for this project, I led the creative direction of the branding process, collaborating closely with a branding consultant to bring the vision to life.

After exploring multiple iterations of the logo, we revisited our concepts for deeper inspiration. I spearheaded the design by creating initial sketches, generating quick mockups, and refining ideas to guide the consultant toward the final logo. The result is a visually compelling representation of the synergy between the three grade bands—IM K–5 Math, IM 6–8 Math, and IM 9–12 Math. The circular design symbolizes a holistic, full-circle learning journey that unites curriculum, professional learning, and community.

In addition to the primary IM v.360 logo, I directed the creation of individual logos for each grade band, forming a cohesive branding library. The circle motif has since influenced various product materials, including slide deck templates, stickers, event swag, motion graphics, and more, ensuring the branding is consistently applied across all touchpoints.

Through this collaborative process, I was able to ensure the brand not only resonates visually but also communicates the comprehensive and interconnected nature of the IM v.360 curriculum.

GOALS

  • Create a fresh and innovative brand that represents the newest version of the IM K–12 Math curriculum
  • Carry out the brand through various marketing matierals spanning multiple channels, including digital, print, events, social media, motion graphics and more
  • Insure the brand is cohesieve and fresh with mulitple designers as touchpoints with the brand
